Anti-bird spikes are a reliable method of bird control, safeguarding linear surfaces such as ridge tiles, parapets, ledges, gutters, beams, pipes, and signs. Which spike fits your ledge. Spikes are chosen by the width of the surface being protected, not by the bird. Measure the ledge, then match it. Narrow covers 60mm to 125mm, medium sits between the two, and wide covers 180mm to 205mm. Anything broader takes two parallel runs rather than one wider spike.

Pigeon, seagull or small species. Pigeon spikes stand 110mm high. Seagull spikes stand 165mm, because a gull will stand on anything shorter. For sparrows and starlings the pin spacing matters more than the height, which is why those come as a 600mm strip rather than by the metre.

Stainless steel or polycarbonate. Stainless steel is 304 grade and is the trade default on exposed and coastal work. Polycarbonate is lighter, cheaper and effectively invisible against light stonework, which makes it the usual choice on listed and residential frontages.

Fixing them. Every spike in this range has snap-off points moulded into the base, so a run can be cut to length by hand on site, and rivet holes for screwing where adhesive is not appropriate. Gutter runs are quicker with the pre-made gutter kits, which include the clips so nothing is drilled.
